What is Ford SYNC with AppLink?

SYNC with AppLink is the latest in-car technology from Ford. Connecting the driver with their smartphone apps through voice commands, this new function supports the Ford principle that drivers 'keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road'.

AppLink is an upgraded version of the Ford SYNC technology, allowing drivers to access and control applications on their smartphones through voice control, audio system and steering wheel controls, as well as a multifunctional display. Through the technology, the driver can stream internet radio and listen to news and tweets through the vehicle sound system, as well as much more.

Using basic voice commands, the driver is able to select artists or playlists from their music selection, chose an address to navigate to, or have their emails or text messages read out aloud.

Ford SYNC with AppLink is available for Android and Apple smartphones, with the applications available through iTunes App Store and Google Play. Throughout 2014 this technology will be introduced on the Ford EcoSport, Focus, C-MAX, Kuga, Fiesta and B-MAX. The Transit, Tourneo Custom and Tourneo Connect will also adopt the new technology nearer the end of the year, with further models due in 2015.

There are currently almost 40 Apps compatible with Ford SYNC AppLink with more continually being added to the line-up. Some popular apps include Spotify, Radio Player UK, Tom Tom, Parkopedia, Cityseeker and Hotels.com.
