Ford is giving the Kuga a refresh, and the resulting all-new edition will launch later this year. Changes to the design of the SUV will be evident inside and out.
The headlights now have built-in LED daytime running lights, which have also been reshaped to match the front foglights. Meanwhile, Ford has changed the front grille on the Kuga to completely update the 'face'. When specifying the model, you now have wider paintwork colour choices – Guard Grey and Copper Pulse are new additions.
It is also clear to see many changes to the cabin design, from the rearranged instrument panel to the more ergonomic shape of each seat. Some updates need to be experienced to be truly appreciated, such as the heated steering wheel.
New features for the Kuga continue even under the bonnet. Ford is bringing a 1.5-litre diesel to the engine range for the SUV. It produces 118bhp, and with up to 62.4mpg combined it is five percent more efficient than previous Ford diesel engines.
Intelligent All-Wheel Drive as an option supports the engine's confidence with reliable, grippy handling. You will still have the choice between diesel and petrol power, as several EcoBoost petrol engines are likely to be offered. Economy levels will be attractive across the range, making the Kuga a front-runner in its class.
And, in yet one more impressive move, Ford SYNC 3 arrives with the all-new Kuga. It comes to this model and several new Vignale cars, on an eight-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to keep you connected on the move.
Something which is unlikely to change is the five-star level of safety in the vehicle. Euro NCAP gave the previous generation of the Kuga that high score in tough safety testing. Ford has increased the effectiveness of Active City Stop, which now brakes automatically from speeds of up to 31mph instead of 19mph. The new Active Park Assist function makes the Kuga 'semi-autonomous' when backing into a space.
